My almost 10 year old has suddenly started "hating" almost every food! He used to love most vegetables and fruits, now hates them. He hates hotdogs, lunch meat. I do not know if this is actually true, or something else going on. The only thing he likes is junk and fast food, which is not going to happen. Smile Anyone else have this problem?

I think your son couldn't just come to hate the food he always liked. There should be another reason for his refusal to eat normal food. 10 year-olds are in the age when they easily fall under influence of their friends and also pretend to be grown-ups. Junk and fast food is kind of stylish..."thanks" to commercials. If he did any sport, he would keep on healthy diet. Don't you think so?

Yes, he does have a healthy diet, just not a big variety! He is thin, and good build. So I am not concerned about that- just that he downright hates things. Smile Thanks!

Maybe he lacks the appetite? Maybe it's just vagaries?
Remember, as a child after a walk in the fresh air, mobile games, come home and eat all you seeing! Smile

I've heard about interesting experiment made in 1930s. In a kindergarten researches arranged one week of full freedom for the kids - several times per day they were proposed fairly all the meals they ever tasted and they were absolutely free to choose whatever they want in whatever quantities. The researches, however, recorded what exactly each child has eaten and how much. Then in one week they have calculated how many proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals etc each child has eaten. Taking into account each specific meal selection was strange for fairly any child it was a surprise to find out that all the diets they have demonstrated were quite balanced!

So if your son is used to healthy food - maybe it would be wise to allow him to eat whatever food he wants...?
