We are not sure what to do and are hoping that someone has some advice for us...

Our 5 year is dry during the day, has been since he was 2.5 years old, but at night time he still needs to wear a diaper. We have tried everything we can think of... no drinking after dinner, waking him up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, but nothing seems to work.

Our doctor says that sometimes it happens and that it has to do with the fact that the body hasn't started producing a hormone that is meant to concentrate the urine. Anybody else have/had this issue? Have you tried anything that has worked?

(BTW. we haven't made this a big deal with him... don't want him to feel bad about it. But he is concerned anyways.)

I heard about such things and it was cured just as time passed, but I am not sure whether it is the best recipe. Doctors say that about 10% of children at this age are still enuretic at night. But I haven't heard about any other recommendations other than to limit the fluid intake during the couple of hours before going sleep.

Also we have friends and their 10 years old daughter still sometimes has such night problems. But in her case doctors says it's rather a psychological problem - he believes she requires more attention and love from parents and this is the way for her to gain it - at least in some form. It doesn't seem to be your case so probably you just have to wait and your son will outgrow it Smile
