Our daughter is now supposed to be getting the first round of immunizations. Some make sense to us and others... like Chicken Pox... don't really. We would like to opt out of most of them but then some of them are packaged together. Like Polio and Whooping Cough. (While Polio makes sense...I have never heard of anyone having complications from Whooping Cough.) So it is an all or nothing deal. There is so much conflicting information I am not sure what to do. But we are leaning towards not doing any immunizations at all. Anyone have any advice? Did your doctor say something to you that convinced you one way or another?

BTW. this is interesting... Jim Carey and Jenny McCarthy talking about their son that has autism and they blame immunizations.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ6bUG7QePI

I also heard about children, which got very serious problems because of immunization. Our friends son doesn't talk and they blame some vaccine. But personally for us we just though which deceases we consider to be dangerous for our child in our specific situation. For example, we have found that hib shouldn't be a problem. So this way we have worked out a list of what we will do and ignored all the rest. Our doctor has approved such approach. But I am sure if our live circumstances and habits would be different we would come to a different list Smile

Reactions to the vaccine depends on many factors:on the quality of the vaccine, on the health status of the child, the vaccine intolerance and allergic reactions can also occur. Some children (fortunately, a small percentage) are dying of the vaccine, other things being equal ...
However, children, who have not been vaccinated, have a much more probability of severe disease with an unknown result.

But how to find the balance - which deceases should be considered as those to vaccine taking into account current situation say in the US?

To prevent such situations, you must be confident in the vaccine, ask the doctor, has the vaccine ever made for other children and what kind of reaction has been. Also, you could make the vaccine only when the child health in good order, which must be confirmed by a doctor.
You shouldn't make all vaccines. But at least in our country, Victor, such diseases as measles, rubella, mumps, whooping cough, diphtheria, poliomeilit, tuberculosis is much better to prevent than later treatment.
I wish you and your children good health! Smile

Nataly, I generally agree with you. But let's consider rubella - everybody is immunized against it, so whether it is actually a good idea then to do it for your own child as it seems there fairly no reasons to meet such a decease?

Rubella is a very dangerous disease for pregnant women with terrible consequences for the future child.
I had a rubella in childhood, and it was slightly for me. But it is possible that infection hasn't been in childhood, then it will be worse as adult! Therefore, in this case it is better to make high-quality vaccine in early childhood.

Yikes! My daughter suddenly got all her allergies, and medical problems after we immunized. I have since but a stop to it, and we are dealing with a lot of allergies, immune problems and health issues that all started after she received her first MMR shots. That's my daughter though, and each kid is different. Just watch for any reactions and be proactive.
